【ストーリー】
成功を夢見る若きプレスエージェントのシドニー・ファルコ(トニー・カーティス)は、ニューヨークのショービジネス界に絶大な権力を振るう人気コラムニスト、J.J.ハンセッカー(バート・ランカスター)のために口八丁手八丁で記事のネタを集めていた。ある日ハンセッカーから彼の妹スージーとジャズギタリストの仲を裂くよう依頼されたファルコは、策略をめぐらしてギタリストのスキャンダルを記事にする。しかし、スージーが自殺を図り、寸前に助けたファルコはJ.J.に誤解されてしまう……。
